The Book of the Four Terms or the Book of the Four Terms in the Qur’an is a treatise written by Professor Abu Al-Ala Al-Mawdudi in the year 1360 AH corresponding to 1941, and he published its chapters successively in his monthly magazine Tarjman Al-Quran, then collected and published it in a letter called the Four Terms in the Qur’an. What Mawdudi himself wrote in his introduction to this treatise:

“... This message was written in the year 1360 AH, the year in which the Islamic Community was founded in India. This message had a hand - and any hand - in clarifying the group's call and determining its position on all the parties and associations that existed in the country. After that, no one came forward to participate except that he was fully aware of the difference between the group’s call and what other parties and societies call for, despite the fact that some of them claim that they were only established for the sake of Islam and the spread of its call. Four editions of this letter have appeared so far - each edition has about 3000 copies - in Urdu and it has not been transferred to this day into any other language, except this Arabic translation made by the virtuous brother, the writer, Mr. And here we are, we are honored to present it to our brothers who speak the antidote. This message is the second of our messages - of course, in the city of Damascus - the fortified stronghold of Islam - at the hands of our brothers in science and religion who have united our hearts and hearts to love Islam and despair for it. He is the guardian of success, and he is all-hearing and responsive.”

كتاب المصطلحات الأربعة أو كتاب المصطلحات الأربعة في القرآن هو رساله ألفها الأستاذ أبو الأعلى المودودي في سنة 1360هـ الموافق 1941، ونشر فصولها تباعاً في مجلته الشهرية ترجمان القرآن ثم جمعها ونشرها في رسالة سماها المصطلحات الأربعة في القرآن. ما كتبه المودودي بنفسه في مقدمته لهذه الرسالة:

«... تم تأليف هذه الرسالة سنة 1360هـ، وهي السنة التي تأسست فيها الجماعة الإسلامية في الهند فكان لهذه الرسالة يد – وأي يد – في إيضاح دعوة الجماعة وتحديد موقفها من جميع الأحزاب والجمعيات التي كانت قائمة في البلاد. فما تقدم بعدها أحد للإشتراك إلا كان على بينة تامة من الفرق بين دعوة الجماعة وبين ما تدعو إليه سائر الأحزاب والجمعيات على الرغم من أن بعضها يدعي أنها ما قامت إلا لأجل الإسلام ونشر دعوته. وقد ظهر من هذه الرسالة حتى الآن أربع طبع – في كل طبعه نحو 3000 نسخة – باللغة الأردية ولم تنقل حتى يومنا هذا إلى أيه لغة أخرى، إلا هذه الترجمة العربية التي نهض بها الأخ الفاضل الأديب الأستاذ السيد محمد كاظم سباق، من زملاء دار العروبة للدعوة الإسلامية وها نحن أولاء نتشرف بتقديمها إلى إخواننا الناطقين بالضاد. وهذه الرسالة هي الثانية من رسائلنا – تحلت بالطبع في مدينة دمشق – معقل الإسلام الحصين – على أيدي إخوان لنا في العلم والدين ممن اجتمعت قلوبنا وقلوبهم على حب الإسلام والاستماته في سبيله، جزاهم الله عن الإسلام وأهله خير الجزاء، ووفقنا جميعا للعمل بما فيه مرضاته، إنه ولي التوفيق وإنه سميع مجيب.»
