773
The purpose of this present Is to acquaillt readers with the edicts
con-
tained In the Qur'an regarding the var.lous aspects of everyday life. Their
study will show that In matters of 8i/maroof (doing good deeds) these are
no different from those required by1.aw or the society In the U.S. This has
contributed to Its greatness. In the matter of A/munker (forbidding) there
are many differences and the present problems arising In the U.S. are the
result of those transgressions of these edicts.
However, there Is one major difference. A Muslim Is required to observe
these commandments as an act of worship, namely In obedience to and
to seek the pleasure of Allah. Consequently he does not seek ways to get
around these. For him these commandments are eternal and no society
or authority can make changes In these.
Amplification of the Qur'anlc edicts Is to be found In the study of the
sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) -Ahadifh.
His life history Seerah exemplifies how these are to be applied In everyday
life.
The world would be a much better place to live In with peace of mind, tran-
quillity and contentment If the people practiced and lived according to
these Qur'anlc edicts.
Tbe present conditions of a buman being on tbe earth are very paradox-
ical. Tbere are very ricb nations like Japan and America wbere the quantity
of millionaires cannot be counted. On the other band, there are countries
wbere buman beings are so deprived tbat in countries like Etbiopia, people
die of bunger because tbey lack food and sbelter.
Tbere are countries wbicb bave become so powerful tbat tbey cannot
tolerate any independent but inimical ruler and tbey invade those countries
to arrest tbe ruler as well as subjugate tbem, and tbat Government sbould be
in accordance with their liking. There are some countries which have been
under the rule of neigbbouring countries for tbe last 70 years. Tbere are
otber countries whicb bave literacy of more than 90% and otbers baving as
little literacy as 15%.
Tbe age of the present civilisation is about 7,000 years. Tbe efforts of the
buman being to improve tbe quality of bis life is well-known to tbe present
generation. Tbere are pbysical comforts of all types to make life as easy as
possible. Communication bas reacbed a stage tbat on Fax, the contents of
any document are transmitted instantly to any part of tbe world. Instant
payment from tbe bank counter is available 24 bours. Posb cars are tbere
for inland traffic. Jumbo jets can take you to the fartbest part of the world
in a few bours. Cooking, cleaning, wasbing, bousebold cbores are being done
by automatic devices. Production per 8 bours bas reacbed a stage which was
unthinkable. Democracy is accepted as a way of life practically all over tbe
world.
Man bas also endeavoured to exalt bis status in the Universe of wbicb bis
earth is only a tiny speck. Having already stepped on tbe Moon, be is
planning to conquer Mars. His potentialities appear to be limitless.
